Claude + GPT for Multi-Language Coding: A Quick Start

गाइड · EN · 2026-10-30

One workflow for Python, TypeScript, and beyond

Multi-language coding help with Claude and GPT is most useful when you treat models as implementation partners, not automatic translators. A Python function and its TypeScript equivalent can look correct while disagreeing about missing values, integers, or timestamps. This quick-start workflow gets you connected, gives both models the same contract, and catches those differences before they reach production.

59API provides low-cost, pay-as-you-go access to Claude, GPT, and other model families through one relay. It supports OpenAI SDKs and developer tools including Claude Code and Codex. For a concrete comparison, try Claude Sonnet 5.5 and GPT-6.1 Sol against the same small task rather than assuming either is universally better.

1. Connect your SDK without hard-coding credentials

Create an API key in your 59API account, then install the Python client with pip install openai. Store the key in an environment variable or secret manager, never in source control. For a local shell, set export API_KEY='your-key' and export AI_BASE_URL='https://api.59api.com'.

Use the API base URL and compatibility path documented for your selected route. If that route requires a /v1 prefix, set AI_BASE_URL to https://api.59api.com/v1 instead. The SDK does not automatically add /v1 to a custom base URL.

Set export AI_MODEL_ID='your-documented-model-id' using the exact API identifier from the dashboard or model documentation. Display names are not necessarily request identifiers. Then run this minimal Python script:

import os; from openai import OpenAI; client = OpenAI(api_key=os.environ['API_KEY'], base_url=os.environ['AI_BASE_URL']); response = client.chat.completions.create(model=os.environ['AI_MODEL_ID'], messages=[{'role': 'user', 'content': 'Write a Python function that sums integer amounts from a list of records. Reject missing amounts, booleans, floats, and strings. Include tests.'}]); print(response.choices[0].message.content)

Keep the request small initially. Confirm authentication, model access, and response handling before connecting an entire repository.

2. Write a language-neutral contract first

For reliable AI code translation, specify behavior before implementation. Consider a service that totals invoice amounts in Python and TypeScript. Give both models the same requirements:

These details matter: Python treats booleans as integer subclasses, while JavaScript numbers cannot represent every large integer exactly. A literal translation can therefore introduce bugs even when the algorithm is trivial.

3. Ask for an implementation, then a targeted review

Prompt one model: Implement this contract in Python and TypeScript. Use standard libraries only. Include pytest and Node test-runner tests. Explain any runtime differences and state the runtime versions you assume. Paste the contract immediately below it.

Next, give the other model the contract and generated code. Ask: Review for behavioral differences, especially booleans, unsafe integers, missing fields, and overflow. Return concrete failing inputs and minimal fixes. This gives the second model a focused verification job instead of requesting another broad rewrite.

4. Run shared fixtures locally

Create one JSON fixture file containing inputs and expected results or error categories. Run it through both implementations. Include empty input, negative amounts, null, a string amount, a boolean, and a total exceeding the safe-integer limit. Compare behavior, not language-specific error messages.

Run the generated tests, formatter, type checker, and existing CI checks. Ask for a minimal patch when something fails. Never paste production credentials, customer records, or private configuration into prompts.

5. Keep quality high and costs predictable

59API is positioned among the cheapest relays and describes its models as native, official-quality offerings without downgrades. Check current per-model pricing and measure cost per accepted patch, including retries, rather than comparing token rates alone. Send relevant functions and error output instead of whole repositories.

If this workflow fits your stack, consider signing up for 59API and testing one small cross-language task first. Its pay-as-you-go access keeps the experiment manageable, and a referral rebate is available under the current program terms.
