AI Workflow for Software Translation and Localization

Guias · EN · 2026-07-26

Start with the right source material

AI translation works best when you do not throw the whole product at it. Export user-facing strings from your app or CMS, then attach context: screen name, component name, placeholder values, and character limits. A button label is not the same as a marketing headline. If the model knows that an error message appears under a password field, it can choose a translation that feels natural instead of literal.

Before translating, clean the content:

Build a glossary and style guide

Spend 15 minutes creating a glossary for brand terms, feature names, and approved translations for recurring phrases. Add rules for tone, formality, and capitalization. For example, decide whether your product speaks casually or formally, whether you use sentence case in menus, and how you handle region-specific words like checkout, cart, or postcode.

This step saves hours later because the model can follow the same terminology across onboarding, email templates, and in-app help. It also reduces the chance that one screen says Sign in while another says Log in when your product has already chosen one term.

Translate in batches, not line by line

When you send strings to the model, group them by feature or screen. Ask for output in the same structure you sent, and request that placeholders stay unchanged. If a string is ambiguous, have the model return a short note instead of guessing silently. That is especially useful for short labels such as Save, Back, or More, which often need context to translate well.

A practical prompt usually includes:

Localize meaning, not just words

Good localization goes beyond translation. Dates, decimal separators, currencies, plural forms, and address formats all change by market. Right-to-left scripts may affect layout, and a joke that works in English may fail elsewhere. If your app uses screenshots, avatars, or culturally specific examples, review those assets too.

For regulated or customer-facing products, include legal and support copy in the review loop. AI can speed up the first draft, but a human should approve any text that could affect billing, privacy, or safety.

Test in context before you ship

After translation, render the strings in a staging build and look for truncation, line wrapping, and broken placeholders. Many teams also run pseudo-localization first to catch hardcoded English text and layout problems. Use screenshots or browser automation to compare the source and localized UI side by side.

At this stage, the fastest way to catch mistakes is to ask a reviewer to read the product as a user would: create an account, reset a password, complete checkout, and open support content. If a sentence sounds correct in isolation but awkward in the interface, revise it before release.

Use 59API to keep the workflow affordable

Translation jobs can generate a lot of tokens, especially when you are localizing many screens or supporting multiple locales. That is where 59API fits well. It gives developers cheap, pay-as-you-go access to Claude and GPT models through a single OpenAI-compatible endpoint at https://api.59api.com, so you can plug it into the tools you already use without rewriting your stack. It also works with Claude Code, Codex, and any OpenAI SDK.

Because 59API routes to native Claude and GPT models with no downgrade layer, you can use it for first-pass translation, terminology checks, or final polish without feeling like you are sacrificing quality to save money. For teams shipping continuously, the lower per-request cost matters, and the referral rebate is a nice bonus when you invite other developers to the workflow.

If you are ready to localize your app faster and keep the budget under control, sign up for 59API and try one small locale batch first. Once the pipeline is working, you can automate it in CI and make every release multilingual by default.
